Can you believe summer is almost here? In just a few days our second graders will be third graders! What was your favorite part of second grade? What fun things are you going to be up to this summer? What are you looking forward to in third grade? We can’t wait to hear what you think!

Ladybugs!

We are so excited that we are able to watch another living thing go through it’s life cycle.  In the fall, we watched monarch butterflies grow from Larva to adult.  As we studied the macro-invertebrates with Pond Partners, we learned about complete and incomplete metamorphoses.  Now that we have the ladybug larva, we were wondering what kind of metamorphosis the ladybug will go through…complete or incomplete.  Remember, a complete metamorphosis has four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult.  The incomplete metamorphosis has three stages:  egg, larva and adult.  What kind of metamorphosis will the ladybug go through?  Do some research on the Internet and tell us what you found!  Or just tell us your hypothesis!  I am so excited to watch what happens!

Blogging in second grade?

How many of you know about blogging? A blog is a website where a person can write about what they find interesting. Pictures and videos can also be posted. When you read a blog, there is a place for the reader to add a comment as well. Would you like to add a comment? Go ahead and help me with some ideas of how we can use this blog for our classroom. I am looking forward to blogging with you!
